It IS amazing

Just out of curiosity,  I did a good search of the term “it’s amazing”.  Of course, I had in mind that God is amazing.  But I made no mention of that in my search phrase.  I wanted to see what came up.

First a couple of singers, Jem and Kanye West, popped up with each singing songs with that title.  I looked at the lyrics.   Both songs are about realizing how one can overcome failures and do what they put their minds to, basically, or touting their own talents.  Not a  bad thing necessarily, but not totally a God-way of viewing life.  There is more to it than the lyrics in those songs.

There was another song with the same title, and the words, although it didn’t say it was referring to God,  I interpreted them that way.  It is a song by Tony Congi.  I am not going to quote the entire song.  Only the first verse and the chorus.  This is more of a God-way of looking at life with God in mind.

“ I have searched the whole world over,

and he DOES care.   Many things in this world amaze me.  I am spending this month at a

camp for children with speech and hearing problems.  I have worked here for eight summers

now.  There are things here that amaze me. 

For one, the forest:  the trees are majestic.  The squirrels and the deer and elk are beautiful

creatures. The fact that the kids have intense therapy and improve so much is amazing.  The

kids themselves, all with special needs, are amazing.  The staff is amazing.  Most are

‘kids’ (college age) working on their bachelors or masters in some speech or audiology

related field.  Some are here as staff members because at some time when they were kids,

they were campers here.  One staff member who has been totally deaf, recently had a

cochlear implant and now can hear quite a bit and she is learning language.  She is amazing. 

She can do absolutely everything a hearing person can.  She even led songs the other day

(with a voiced interpreter of course so we could tell what she was singing/saying) My family

is amazing.  They put up with my flaws.. boy do they!  Wow.. that is totally amazing. But by

far the definition of AMAZING is the price that Jesus paid for my sin.  He paid the penalty

for all of my mess-ups. So that I no longer have to be penalized for an eternity for them. 

Yes, I often have to pay the consequences for things here on earth.  But that is so

temporary.  Eternity is forever and forever I am washed clean and in God’s eyes it is as if I

had never even sinned.  Now THAT is amazing.
